Last weekend on the 27th and 28th, Townsend’s Speech and Drama Team participated in the State Tournament hosted by Shepherd High School at MSU Billings. To qualify for State, the Speech and Drama individuals had to place in the top 6 at their tournaments, hosted by Gardiner. At these tournaments, they compete and are selected from 18 people of each event.
Among the 55 schools participating, Townsend’s placings were: Kristen Higgins competing in Impromptu Speaking, Krystal Barragan in Lincoln Douglas Debate for 9th, Chris Vazquez in Expository Speaking for 6th, Jessica Ward in Lincoln Douglas Debate for 5th, Claire Garman and Ann Updike in Policy Debate in 5th, and Ruby Hohn for 2nd in Humorous Solo.
The Speech and Drama Team had a very successful season, taking first at all but one invitational meet. Their strong senior leadership will be missed next year, but the younger team members will continue to carry on in their successful legacy. Congratulations!
