On March 15th, 2012 students from Townsend schools, grades 6th-12th will travel to Helena for a math competition. In the morning they will tour the Montana Department of Transportation and then they will go have lunch before heading to the Helena College of Technology. There they will take a series of three tests, each about 30 minutes long. They will then arrive back in Townsend at approximately 3:30.

This competition is for any middle school and highschool students interested in participating. The meeting for this will be on Monday, January 30 in Mrs. Ascheman’s room. This competition is being held by the Montana Council Teachers of Math also known as MCTM. Teachers encourage students to participate in these competitions because it gets them involved in the school and helps them with their math skills. Schools from all around the area come to participate in these math competitions every spring, and kids that have already been to a competition say that it is one of the best competitions to do.
