Senior Nate Lein has many commitments. He is involved in Wrestling, Show Choir, Link Crew, and is taking college classes; not to mention he has a steady job at Good Samaritan. Lein defines commitment as,
“Something you set out to do and fulfill,” said Lein. Lein feels having commitment in life is important because it gives them something to do.
“It provides structure for them (students) and gives them an obvious path to follow.”
Lein has been studying to become a C.N.A. (certified nursing assistant) at Good Samaritan for about three months. He usually works with the residents and this will give him qualification to do more work with the residents. Lein loves talking with The residents because they usually have an interesting story to tell about their past.
Lein feels school is an important commitment and more students need to take it seriously.
“They (students) need to work on fulfilling their responsibilities.” Lein said.
He feels school is always important if you want to get anywhere in life, and if you want to have a successful future.
Lein also feels having a job is an important commitment because he needs to have money to pay for his future, like paying for college and for necessities, like gas for his car.
Lein also understands he needs to concentrate on more than one commitment and he also feels he needs to have a social life to keep himself in balance.
“You need friends or you will go crazy,” Lein said.
Because Lein has many commitments, he has to spread his time equally between all of them.
“My commitment is spread between friends, Good Sam, (and) relaxing of course, but school always wins,” Lein said.
What does Lein feel like he needs to be more committed to?
“Right now I need to make decisions about my life, when am I going to college? What to do with my life…” Lein said
Even though Lein has many commitments, he also makes sure to take a break once in a while.
“I always make time for free time.” Lein said.
