The final game in the tournament Saturday was against North Forney, which ended in a tie, 0-0, but LV lost the shootout, 3-2, with goals by Marco Cruz and Reyes Carranza.

"The "real" season began Tuesday Feb. 15 with the first district game at home against China Spring, where the Modocs beat the Cougars, 3-1, with two goals by Marco Cruz and one by Jesus Rodriguez on a penalty kick.

Assistant coach Bob Sheehy said, "The preseason has been full of cancelled games and cancelled practices due to the severe weather the last two weeks, but we should be fine now."

They weren't fine after a 6-0 loss to the #3 ranked University Trojans (unbeaten in district) Feb. 18 but righted the ship at Connally Feb. 22, winning easily, 5-0 with Michael Garcia netting two goals and Javier Carranza, Gonzalo Garcia, and Jesus Rodriguez one each. LV did all its scoring in the first half and let all the substitutes play freely the remainder of the game.

The boys are now 2–1 in district and play Waco High at home on Friday night Feb. 25 at 5:30 p.m.
