As the school year comes to an end, and the summer temperatures begins to resurface, students are becoming increasingly busy. School functions, AP testing, SOLs, SATs; the list goes on. But, once students push through the final gust of school intensity, freedom is finally theirs once again. With the unfamiliar plethora of open time, students are finally able to make up lost time for unseen concerts. As countless musicians begin their Spring/ Summer tours, DC venue dates are abundant. Jammin Java, Rams Head Live, Sonar, and the 9:30 club are only a few popular venues that are already selling tickets for upcoming, promising shows.

In early May, Jammin Java, located in Vienna, VA is hosting concerts for Friday Night Boys, featuring Amely and Burn the Ballroom. On May 8, Boys will be Boys will be at Jammin Java with The Love Light and The Five One.

Rams Head Live, located in Baltimore, Maryland will be hosting Bullet for my Valentine, featuring Chiodos and Airbourne on May 2. Metal Fest occurs May 8, featuring The 10th Harvest, The Epic Hour, and many other bands. Angels and Airwaves and Say Anything will be at Rams Head May 3. Also, a famous Michael Jackson tribute band, Who’s Bad, will be performing on the first.

The 9:30 club, a prominent DC venue, is hosting Angels and Airwaves featuring Say Anything on the 5th, days after their performance at nearby Rams Head. Minus the Bear, Everest, and Young the Giant will perform on May 6. On May 25, the 9:30 Club will feature Flyleaf, as well as Fair to Midland and 10 years.

Also, the Merriweather Pavillion will be holding the Bamboozle Roadshow on May 21, including Forever the Sickest Kids, All Time Low, and countless others.

These are only a few local venues and a handful of tour dates; other local venues include the Black Cat, the Verizon Center, and Nisaan Pavillion. Each venue has a fully-equipped website with dates and ticket purchasing opportunities. Other websites like last.fm and ticketmaster.com have search engines for specific bands and dates. Also, most bands have myspaces that can have the most information on tour dates. The metropolitan area is blooming with music venues and opportunities, so don’t miss out!
