“It has the potential to be the most hilarious thing you'll ever see.” said Senior and lead, Brett Stockman, of the upcoming play, Robin Hood. This year, Black Forest Productions will be performing a spinoff version of the classic bedtime story.

Robin Hood will be the first play to kick off the 2009-2010 school year, and it promises to put the Drama department off to a strong start.

“The Black Forest Productions are definitely entertaining, and worth going to,” said Junior Lorena Melcher.

Black Forest Productions have been generating theatrical opportunities for Briar Woods students since its opening in 2005.  Students have performed versions of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Footloose, and various other plays including The Music Man, The Wizard of Oz, Dracula, and Crazy for You.

While most students are familiar with the general plot of the play, Black Forest Productions has added personal touches to the performance.  Lead cast members include Brett Stockman as Robin Hood, Lindsey Neimo as Maid Marian, Tyler Kirby as King Richard, and Katie Brown, as Bonwen.  Supported by a full cast, the students will depict a matchless edition of the 1980s tale. Ms. Gilligan revealed the cast is surprisingly ecological.

“The Version on Robin Hood we're doing is a comedy,” said Drama Department head Marilyn Gilligan. “It takes a different spin on who Robin Hood is…the show is full of actions, along with fights, tons of pratfalls, and a killing or two.”

All students are encouraged to come out and support the Drama department’s upcoming performance, and to bring along family and friends.

“The perfect show  for almost all ages,” Ms. Gilligan said. The plays will take place November 19, 20, and 22 at 7:00 p.m. and November 21 at 2:00 p.m.  Adult tickets are $7, students and children are $5, and tickets will be available at the door.
