“It’s crazy to see my sister around the school,” said Pathways teacher Ms. Trisha Metz. “I still think of her as a little girl.”

Another member of the Metz family has joined the Tyngsboro High School staff this school year. Ms. Annie Metz, a Chelmsford High and Plymouth State graduate, is the new wellness teacher and JV field hockey coach.

“I’d like to bring a new style of teaching to gym,” said Coach Metz.

Every gym class, Metz has her kids do one or two warm-up laps around the track, sit-ups, and push-ups. Then they head into the gym and play ultimate frisbee while listening to music.

“It’s good that we actually exercise in gym,” said sophomore Anna Glavin.

Metz played four years of field hockey in high school, and another four years in college. She brings new approach and technique to the field hockey team this year as the JV coach.

“Ms. Metz has been a great addition to our group of coaches. Her enthusiasm gives you a burst of energy and helps make that one last sprint seem shorter,” said junior Katie Long.

Metz’s knowledge of the game and her positive attitude has helped the field hockey team so far this season. She’s been working well with the players as well as the other coaches.

“I love working with Ms. Metz,” said Varsity coach Beth Craig, “She’s great.”
