This month’s spotlight is on Los Lunas High School Senior, Toby Archuleta. This 17 year old prodigy fills much of his time with art, and fills the art with talent. One of Toby’s hobbies is drawing. He has been drawing since he learned how to hold a pencil. He enjoys doing both ink and pencil drawings. If Toby doesn’t have his sketch pad handy, school assignments are great to doodle on too. Not to say that Mr. Archuleta is anything but a great student, in fact he is an academic letterman and always makes honor roll. Toby also paints and has been painting since he was 12. He has participated in a few art shows. One time he took second place at the Bosque Farms Fair for a painting he created.

Though Toby enjoys drawing, film is what he focuses on. He has been active in Video Production for the past four years. He has also competed in the Eye of the Tiger Film Festival. A festival where high school students can show their filming skills by entering their own videos to compete with other Los Lunas student’s videos. Last year he did very well in the festival, placing 1st and 2nd place in Comedy and 2nd in Music Video. When Toby was asked about what type of art is his favorite, he answered, “ I like film the best because it combines every art form that you could imagine.”

Toby plans to pursue film as his future career. He plans to start at CNM and get his Bachelor Degree in Creative Writing. After this, Toby wants to move to London to attend the London Film School and get his MA in Film Making. Toby is deciding whether to concentrate on Directing, Editing, or Screenwriting. Toby is a creative young man which allows his art to come natural to him. He is a driving individual, who works hard to reach his goals. Toby Archuleta, this month’s artist spotlight.
